i am having a problem with my speedo cable breaking. I bought the car with the speedo broken. It has a 4.10 in the rear and I figured id just throw in the 6t drive gear in the trans since I had to put a new seal in it anyways and bought a new speedo cable. It lasted for about 10 miles then stopped working. I made sure there wasn’t anything touching the cable to burn it. Also I made sure there wasn’t any hard bends for the cable.

After I installed it all the speedo did shake kind of when I was driving. Like the needle would bounce between like 3mph on the speedometer. Any ideas on what could be wrong? of just bad luck with cables?

 

Try lubing the cable with some graphite and wd-40. Put the graphite in it and wash it down with wd-40.

 

my speedo shakes right now from 0-40 mph then it stops.... u think its the same prob and i should just get a new one a replace it??

 

Id say try what I posted before spending a lot of money on anew cable. I heard about doing this on another forum where a guy had a boucing speedo.
