Distributor install problem
My son has a 1989 5.0. We recently bought a GT40 upper and lower intake. I installed it this afternoon and went to put the distributor back in and it didnt want to go. I looked down into the motor and saw that the oil pump shaft wasnt centered in the hole. I spun it with a socket and still it didnt straighten out. I then took it out and checked the shaft for straightness and it seems fine. I put the distributor in without a problem without the shaft in just to see if the problem was in the dist. I put the shaft back in and still have the same problem. The dist. goes over the shaft maybe an 1/8 of an inch and wont go any further due to the shaft not being centered. It was in the car and operating fine before i took it out. My question is, does the shaft go in a specific way, or is there some Ford trick that im not aware of. Thanks in advance.

RE: Distributor install problem
an old trick is to put a dab of jb weld in tip of rod and stick in distributor end and let dry..u can stab it in oil pump easier some times ...turn motor over a few time look at oil pressure and see if u have good pressure...
