Default Stall Converter ?

Ok Im running stock motor, stock cam, intake etc.... Have mild bolt on's.....
My last tranny had a Transgo Shift Kit and a 3000 stall

Stall was too high, and I am now rebuilding another one..... My brake stall is about 3200 should I go with a 2000-2300 stall or 2200-2600? I don't know the flash stall.....

But the specs are -

AODE w/ shift kit
shifts at 5.5
street/strip
4:10 w/ 8.8
3900 lbs

Also what brands are good, I'd like first hand info please thanks... my old one was by tci

My best advice is call several tranny companies and tell them exactly what mods you have made and then ask them for a recommendation on a converter. A good company will ask you a lot of questions to get the correct information to make a decision, so if they don't spend a lot of time asking questions, then don't go with their recommendation. Besides TCI and B&M, you can check with Art Carr Performance Transmissions, Lentech Automatics, Turbo-Action, Hughes, Performance Automatic, Dynamic Racing Transmission, ATI, and there are others but these are the biggest ones. My guess would be something around 2,500 stall, but that is just a guess.

Your stock cam probably played the biggest roll in your converter. The 3000 stall was most likely robbing you of low end torque because it was a tad out of your cams operating range. Give the trans companies as much info as possible and they will help you select the proper converter. I'd say about 2000 stall.
