Whats the best cam
Just wanting to know anyone can help me on piching out a cam?OK this is what I have:306, gt-40 heads, Victor jr. intake, holley 650 dp,MSD dist. with 6al, motorsports headers,c-4 3500 stall, 410 gears, 26" et streets. Not sure what kind of cam is in it.It sounds like it is little.Just wanting know what kind of rpm range do I need to look at when getting a cam, or does anyone recomend one.And anyone know what this set up should do in the 1/4 mile. Thanks

2-6000 rpm range imho would work. I am running a VERY similar setup and have an X303 but it feels a bit weak on the bottom end and I wish I had pulled it out when I bought the crate motor and ordered something up from Comp. Have them grind you something, it should help a lot under the curve, if not at the peak.

You could also go the custom route with either Camshaft Innovations or FTI to get the best results out of your combo.

well a victor jr i think starts makin power its made for around 3000 so if u wanna run high rpms then ok other wise ditch the vic and get a rpm edelbrock several test show rpm is better up to like 4000 rpms after that vic pick ups..but most street cars dont see 4-4200 rpms alltimes...

well really you have a mis match with the intake and heads..a torker intake would be better for a rpm range around 2500 and the stall is off.....you need a set of larger vavles and more cfm's... I would also only use a daul pattern cam with a center line around 110 and less drivabilty suffers

I agree on some parts, you need a dual plane intake and a stall of around 2800-3200max imho. The GT40P heads are a great around-town head because of their insane flow numbers UNDER THE CURVE. For 5,000+ rpm strip only though, under the curve isnt as important and TFS/AFR heads dominate. For around town, I know of ppl who have tried the TFS and the GT40P's and preferred the P head for its responsiveness. It has insane flow velocity. Port size IS NOT EVERYTHING.
