Default Installing cylinder heads

About to put the new AFR 165's on.

have read some of the head bolts need silicon on the threads "if" they
pass thru a water jacket.

Which head bolts do i need to put silicon on (if any) and which just need oil
for proper torque?

any other tips for head install?

make sure that you've got a headgasket on there before you do any tightening.

I use a teflon sealer/lube on all head bolt threads.

this is the stuff they sold me at parts store.

is this the right stuff?
just put a bunch on the threads instead of motor oil for torquing?

The bottom head bolts are the ones that go into the water jackets. The top bolts are blind so no sealant is required. Now you're going to want to use some moly lube on the washers and bolts also. After you're initial warm up let them cool for at least 2-3hours then retorque the bolts.

Good point on the moly lube. Torque specs for ARP bolts are listed as if you used moly lube, using oil will change these specs.
