Best Camshaft for stock 87 5.0LX
I was looking at getting a new camshaft for my 87 5.0 lx. It's mainly stock, but it has a cold air induction, and 3.73 gears, as well as underdrive pulleys. Can anyone suggest a good camshaft? Thanks

Yea, the FRPP B and E cams are great, even for lightly modded stangs like the one you've got. E cam is more streetable with lower duration and lift figures so you shouldn't need to delve into the lifters and rockers just yet, unless you were planning to.
Some things to take into consideration however: You will be putting more stress on the rockers and springs and such, so you may want to change them as well. And as in the previous post, you wont be maximizing numbers with stock heads, may even do more harm than good, so I'd change them first.

im getting an E303 cam aswell and have done research and found that the AFR 165's are teh best bang for about the same buck. highest flow numbers hands down on similair heads.

E is probably best if your gonna stay stock, they are real good cams for use in stock or mild heads - as long as you stay NA and their also easy on the valvetrain
If you've got aftermarket heads - especially AFR's, don't go with an E cam. They only lift to .498 and won't take advantage of the big flow #'s the AFR's put out at higher lift - your basically wasting half of the extra flow you get if your not at least lifting to .550.

so im out here in smog hell Cali, i think the E cam is about all i can go to not passing smog there after. Do u think i should get some other heads besides teh AFR's just because of the E cam? Will the lack of lift negate the AFR heads flow that much??
