hmm mine dosnt whine at all

even at full rotation is pretty much unhearable

usually the noise is caused by low fluid while turning so the pump is starved and makes noise

ive seen them placed differently too. some people put them right next to the compressor, mine is directly under it.

the foxbody mustang is a light car, manual rack wouldnt be bad at all even at low speeds. alot of hondas dont have power steering because they simply just dont need it (from the factory!)

anyway i would just check the fluid and belts. since it sat for 4 years, the belts are probably corroded anyway

well i broke 1 of the plastick nipple off the bottom , so hello new power steering pump, good bye shift light

they all whine, there fords i have an 05 f450 work van at work and that thing whines! its a ford thing get a loud exhaust you will never pay attention to it!
im not sure whats up with all your guys fords but they arent supposed to do that rofl. my car doesnt, my 88' E350 van doesnt and my bros 00' e 150 van doesnt. you guys may want to look at that.....[sm=laughat.gif]
