most of your programmers use the cobra computer as a baseline...

well the ppl ive seen put one of those computers in have had terrible results
all i can say is you can give it a try and see what happens
I tune my X3Z with a tweecer, and it works quite well. The X3Z is just as good of a starting point as the A9*'s.
The X3Z pulls fuel on decel

As far as people swapping out the A9* for an X3Z.
If you do this you must also change the injectors and the MAF/MAS. The cobra computer is programmed to run 24lb injectors and to run a 70mm stock MAF/MAS. The MAS used on the 93 Cobra was not the same as that used on the standard 5.0 HO Fox Mustang.

If you swap to the X3Z, you must swap all the parts.

The timing pulled by the X3Z is fairly small, noticing the difference would be difficult.
If there was a dramatic change in performance, then most likely the conversion was not complete.

Again,
there is no performance advantage to swapping to an X3Z, and there will be other parts that will need to be purchased to do the conversion properly.

If you are going to be tuning your computer with a hand held/laptop type tuner then it really does not matter what you start with.
Get whatever you can find cheap, so long as it is correct for your application (maf vs sd / manual vs auto / etc)
