New clutch cable stiff as hell. What the deal?

RE: New clutch cable stiff as hell. What the deal?
Well, I guess I'll go down there and contort my body back into position. When I was trying to take the cable off of the quadrant before, I slipped and popped myself in the mouth with a giant pair of pliers. I didn't think too much of it until I got out of the car, and spit a mouthful of blood. Now I look like I got in a fight. Changing cables sucks.

Well I lubricated the old cable and bunged it back in. The pedal practically presses itself now. I guess if I have to replace the cable, I'll spend the $1000 and get an OEM one. At any rate, thanks for all your help, fellas.[sm=smiley20.gif]

hey i just had to replace the cable on my 88LX and it made a world of diffrence in the feel. it was smooth and felt nice. but my headers get so hot that it started to melt my cable a little bit and its starting to get a little on the hard side so i moved the cable over. For you problem that it used to make a poping sound when you pressed on the clutch that sounds like some of the pressure plate fingers broke it's harder to relese the clutch disk. i would look in the bell houseing and look at the fingers and see how they look.

Would there be any symptoms now if it had been my pressure plate disintegrating?
Your feet getting mangled by it when it comes through the floor pan
J/K....you'd probably hear alot of rattling going on down there.
Btw, that popping noise, most likely was the quadrant like you said. I got one of those Steeda aluminum quadrants that has the different settings on it, a little hard to put in, but its a nice addition to my stang.

I swapped a cable before and man it was stiff, like I hear what ya mean as when i put mine in my quad it took me and a buddy everything we had almost to get it into the fork. I was lost cuz many changed and no way so figured #1 wrong cable or #2 bent fork #3 quad messed etc....
Anyways I checked the part # with the shop and they said it's correct lined them up and seen little difference. I got used to that crazy stiff cable but with abit of time bought another one and it went on fine and was 1000 times better so my thoughts vendor to vendor ethier wrong cables or a tad bit off saving afew extra bucks wasn't worth it in the end.
