power shifting
Is power shifting a bad idea on a stock 95 GT, or will it blow the trans? I'm goin to the track for my first time, and im looking for all the advantages i can get as a driver...but i dont want to go screwing up my car.

RE: power shifting
yes, it will eat up your syncros... it is a terrible idea to do on a stock t-5/t-45....but if you rebuild with one of those geforce racing kits or pick up a TR3550/TKO you'll be set to do some pedal to floor gear banging.....

RE: power shifting
It will eat up your synchros only if you grind between gears. It will however bust a gate plate or shift fork, in which case you'll have to have the whole transmission opened up to have it replaced, which will cost a lot. If you want to powershift, don't worry about rebuilding your tranny internals, just get a good short-throw shifter with positive stops so you can't overshift. You should be fine with that.

RE: power shifting
yes a good shifter is a must before you even try....first you need to practice it at lower speeds so if any damage occurs it will be in the lower rpm range..until you get good just speed shift 1-2 and 3-4 ....when at the track I never let off the gas to shift of coarse you can buy a jerrco or doug nash and just use the clutch on the hole shot
