Default voltage regulator

Hey guys I just have a kwik question. How do I know if my voltage regulator is shot? The reason I ask this is because I just replaced my alternator with a 130amp one and I installed a electric fan. When my car is idleing I'm getting about 14.5 volts, then when I turn on my lights it goes down to about 13.1 volts( I checked it with a voltage tester)then when I have my lights and electric fan on it stays around 12.5 volts. Now this is all at a idle--when I give it a little gas the volts go up but not too much--maybe 13.2 to 13.5 volts. Do I need to replace the voltage regulator? Thanxs in advance for any help you can give me!

with a elec fan and when lights are on and elec fan,,you will lose a few amps..as long as you are pulling around 12.5 you fine///

Seems normal to me...expecially at idle with all those accessories on. Heck at idle with nothing on it's on the low end and if I put my stero on or lights it's draining the battery.

It's just a matter of time before I get the 130amp alt for my car.

Thanxs for the compliment,Hung Like a Stang,I apppreciate it! The reason I'm asking about my voltage regulator is because when I'm at a stop sign and I have my turn signal on it barely flashes and the needle on my guage goes down to about 11.3 to 11.5 volts. Thats why I bought a bigger alternator so that I wouldn't have to worry about that but it seems that it's not helping. My lights get very dim at stop signs at night. I even bought one of thse Optima batteries in the hope that would help also but it didn't. Thanxs for everyones advise--if you have any other ideas please let me know

Great looking car first off, and no the voltage regualtor is fine, if your at 12-13 volts under heavy load at idle your doing good, and it rises at acceleration, its working properly. If your paranoid or just need some confirmation take it to Advance or Autozone and they can test them for free. Later

I agree. What is the concern? A charging system that works?
