Default Steering colum

Ok here is my issue. I just got an 87 5.0 for free but it needs alot of work. there is no keys to it and the idiot b4 me cracked and damaged the housing for the ignition cylinder. i have to replace the housing but i can get the thing off the colum. i need some suggestions, i have tried everything i can think of, short of taking a torch and cutting it off.

Thankz

If you are talking about the lock cylinder where the ignition key goes, there is a small pin that is on the bottom of the housing that holds the lock in place. You can see it sticking through the outer housing. It can be pushed in when the lock cylinder is rotated to the on position. If you don't have a key you'll have to get a locksmith or you can do what I did a drill the lock until it is distroyed so it will come out. I would not suggest the latter because you can make matters worse if you are not very careful. You can buy new keys and cylinder cheap at a parts store.

well i have already drilled out the lock cylinder but i need to remove the outter housing that holds the lock cylinder. the DA that owned it hit it w/ a hammer and broke/cracked it pretty bad. so i need to know how to take the housing off the steering shaft

The only thing holding the cylinder in is that tiny pin. You have to keep using a larger diamater bit until the pin comes loose. I had to use a large bit to to free mine up. All the tumblers were gone and basically the only thing left of the cylinder was the outer shell. It sounds like you're in the same boat with your car as I am with mine. I got mine free too and am dealing with the same type crap. The worst part is I found my keys a couple weeks after I went through the trouble of drilling the cylinder out.
