Default AOD - T5 swap. Any last tips or reminders?

Well, about to make the dive into this swap. The steering column is coming out, any tips on the easiest way? Also, I might just wait and put a billet quadrant and adjustable clutch cable in before those pedals get jammed up. Whats a good combo? Bought a new clutch, throwout, pilot bearing all for 104$ (gotta love it) I read the sticky and whatnot and went thru the west coast ford article. just basically lookin for small tips others used or problems they ran into. If this driveshaft doesnt work, then the guy i bought the stuff off will give me one that does, and the cross member may have to be "modified". heres a few snaps. Its a T5-Z or w/e, 98k miles. Also got me a A9L, which apparently is hard to find.[8D]

Don't bother with the adjustable cable. Just get a non adj. cable and and a forewall adjuster. You'll save yourself some headaches. If you can get the pedal assy in with the quadrant on it then go that route. The cable is a cinch to put in. You can do the quadrant after the pedals are in, but it takes a bit longer. especially if you have big hands. Hardest part of the whole swap is getting the AOD out and getting that pedal assy in. My pedal assy took about 30-45 minutes to get in and positioned, but some people have messed with them for hours. When I did mine I took out the driver's seat for more room and laid down some moving blankets on top of the studs so they weren't digging into my back. Don't use your flexplate bolts for the flywheel. Take the time to find the ones that are a bit longer for the flywheel and use a little thread locker on them. Find the right torque settings for the flywheel and pressure plate and tighten them accurately with a torque wrench or else your disk is going to wear unevenly. That's all I can think of at the moment. You probably already knew most of it anyway.

*edit* Just looked at your pics. I would Definitely ditch the stock quadrant and go adjustable. That T-5 looks like it's seen better days, but it could just be really dirty. I put a rebuilt T-5 in mine when I did the swap and it had some upgraded parts and I blew it up at 500 miles. Now I have a TKO [8D] I hope your's lasts you a while.

Thanks for the tips. I just started tonite. Pulled the front seat, the steering column is dropped and unplugged so I could move it to the side. The pedal assembly looks like a bitch, and I called it quits for the night. I have flywheel bolts from the old car, so thats not an issue. The trans is in great shape. Its dirty, and most of those spots are PB blaster or degreaser. Tomorrow I am goin to pull the old pedals out. I am waiting for my adjustable cable and quadrant and it should be here by Friday. I might drop the AOD and whatnot underneath the car if I get too frustrated with these pedals. I kno what you mean about the studs in your back. I got an old tee shirt stuffed on top for now. I'll update this thread with pics tomorro.
