Automatic Shifter Question
I am getting ready to build my fox body big block and im gunna run a c-6, my question is which is better for a reverse patterned, manual valve bodied transmission, a detent shifter, like the tci outlaw which is my favorite shifter by far, or a ratchet shifer like the tci streetfighter. The outlaw is a detent shifter correct? If it were a ratchet it would be perfect. Do the detent shifters work as well as ratchet shifters?
Also, where is the best place to buy engine parts for a 460? Someone told me today that p.a.w. is a good place, summit and jegs have a pretty limited bbf selection. Thanks, Robert

RE: Automatic Shifter Question
I would use the 'Turbo-Action shifter with a reverse manual valve body.
You will be shifting AWAY from nuetral which I've always thought was a good idea.
They are lots of $$ but they are worth it.
Look on e-bay for one thats where I got my last one, never used but 'pre-owned' and I onlly paid $100.....
Dunno what to say about the 460 parts. Just shop. Maybe e-bay. Last one I biult was done with PAW stuff. Ok but nothing to write home about...

RE: Automatic Shifter Question
i like the b&m mega shifters for ratchets. i dont like gate shifters at all. a reverse partern takes a little to get used to but its more natural pulling the shifter twords you once you get used to it. i dont like tci shifters, they feel flimsly to me. the outlaw is a like a ratchet, it only goes 1 position and you need to squeeze the handle release again. a detent shifter has no locks to it, its like a stock shifter.
