Upgrade the axles to Mosers and rebuild the internals to hold the power your wanting to throw at it. Then have the axle tubes welded and throw a girdle on it. Theyre pretty stout rearends.
You can also weld gussets between the pumpkin and the tubes. I did this to mine. Took a buncha work, but i fabricate for a living. I used some 1/8 thick plate steel, made some card board templates and went to town with a torch and a Lincoln welder.

thanks for the help,
i doubt the motor will be making very much power as it is. the only "mods" include an electric fan and a new timing chain since they retarded the cam from factory. i would doubt that it will break the 7.5" rear end in our car right now but we will see when we take it to the track to get some baseline times for the car. just waiting on the aluminum radiator and tranny cooler to get the thing driving and tuned. might get a set of headers for the car, too.
