Even an 850 is going to drown the motor. I'd check my oil and make sure your not getting alot of gas in there with that huge 1050, or even the 850. Sell the 850 and buy a Barry Grant 600Demon with it. Those carb's are probably the best.
Im going to be throwing a 175-200 shot on my new 308 and i just got an old Holley 4150 that flows 600cfm on it.
But i would seriously keep an eye on your oil, cause if alot of gas gets in it, your looking at some trouble with that, gas will clean the oil off of parts while your car is sitting still and when you crank it you'll have a dry start. Not to mention the oil is lighter than the gas so if your car sits for awhile the two fluids will seperate and when you go to crank it, your oil pump is going to be pumping gas to the top end and your going to even furthur your dry start.
I heard of this guy one time that had a freshly built 331 and he had a Holley 750 on it, well he flooded it out about 4-5 times and didnt know much about carbs, well he destroyed the walls in the bores because the gas washed the oil off of them while the car was sitting still, eventually he did a leak down test and it was horrible, i cant rememebr what it was but it was bad.
THat was a guy off of stangnet, when i was on there awhile back.
