Default What cam should I use and when?

Guys, If you can give me some helpful advise I would appricate it!
I have the Edlebrock Rpm upper and lower with factory headers, and I plan on getting heads, cam, and headers but i am not sure in what order to buy them in. I.e. headers first?
So a few questions:
1. what cam do i buy for mid to high rpm horsepower
2. what heads do i get that will match my upper and help me reach my goal? I am thinking the matching eldebrock heads or ?
3. headers that i can get that will match my h pipe that bolts up to my factory headers?
** please keep in mind that I am buget minded**

hey anyone in Houston that could turn the wrench???

Just buy a top end kit. The parts are designed to work together and they usually include everything needed. Then buy whatever headers you like. Top end kit will run in the $2k area.

I am not sure what that is, but keep in mind that I have the upper and lower already installed and working and all I am questioning is what heads cam and headers.... by my math those parts shouldnt run but 1500 or less plus install.
Thanks for the reply just let me know what all comes in these kits.

You could get the Edlebrock RPM camshaft and heads. Your math looks about right for those parts. Just need the gaskets for the swap...head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, timing chain cover gasket, intake gaskets, etc. And maybe new head bolts.

Are you doing the swap or having it done?

if you will be paying someone to do it, i think you should wait till you have more than 1500 to spend. some good heads will cost 1000-1300, plus a couple hundred for the cam/headers. unless you know of a shop that only charges 5$/hr labor, youre better off getting a little dirty and putting the stuff on yourself.

yea ... i dont thin ka garage charged $5 an hour since the 50's, its more like $40 hr minimum... more likely $50-$60, i'd get the trickflow twisted wedge heads and a comp cam, as for hte headers, get shorties and go equal length ceramic coated BBK has excellent quality and fit, dont forget to get all the gaskets, fel pro gaskets are good, and locking header bolts are a + as well.
