reverse grinding?

Default reverse grinding?

91 gt convertable 5 speed

almost everytime i put it into reverse it grinds, no other gears do this, just reverse

and putting it into 1st and second once ina while is tough, u have to push it hard sometimes to get it into gear

why is this? and how can i fix it?

i dont know how to fix reverse grinding, mine does it too, but i throw it into fifth before reverse every time and it keeps it from grinding

as far as the reverse thing, throw it in a forward gear first, then reverse... i had that problem, i usually go into 5th then down to R and no grinding.

the reverse gear is not syncronized. if you are moving even slightly, it will grind.

the syncro rings are bad, or they were just designed poorly, which is more likely

Yep. It will always grind unless you stop the trans from spinning. I shift into 3rd or 4th at a complete stop before reverse, and it never grinds.

Never seen a T5 that didn't grind reverse... Like the others, I go into 5th first... I've seen several that are a little tough in 1st too, try pulling the clutch back out and in before you force it in, Don't want to bend your shift forks...
