If you ever have an HO again don't EVER rev it that high again. Good way to split your block.

I used to have another 88 and i've revved it up to 65-7000 before.... when i say it dies, i mean it will not rev past 5000..... it acts like it has a rev limiter.... but it also responds to timing changes.... before i started tinkering with it, it would only rev to about 4500

i call b.s your stock tach is junk,and the valve springs would have floated way before 6500 rpm...

and stock lifters can take 7200rpm.

a 302 with better lifters will work up to 7500
