with your kinda power i do not recommend a king cobra clutch. Go with a spec stage 3. As for the sound, id have to hear it.

If it is a pilot bearing, you should be able to affect the noise without having to fully depress the clutch. Mine rattles but when I just rest my foot on the pedal it will go away. Worse ones take slightly more pressure. Describe the noise a bit better and I can probabaly give you good help. I give ford techs advice for a living so I am willing to help when I can.
I have the king cobra and it grabs hard enough for what I could ever throw at it. I know guys putting almost 400 at the wheels on the stock clutch with minimal problems. The king SUCKS in ANY traffic. No lie, I fear I will break the cable and/or pedal one of these days. It is that stiff.

Okay. A worn pilot bearing will make noise similar to when a U-joint does; when there are sudden speed changes in torque transfer. On engine braking and throttle blips. Most of the time you have endplay problems when you have pilot bearing problems. The biggest thing that happens when you depress the clutch is take the driveline out of the mix. Your problem may lie in the trans. Noises are the toughest part of what I do. Sometimes I have the guy take the phone in the car with him...

When you push the cluth in and hold it in, the pilot bearing would still spin on the transmission input shaft so if it was bad it should still make noise. If it is the clutch release bearing that is bad then pulling the trans and checking or trying to see through the cluth fork cover would be a pain but worth it to know for sure.
