Exhuast temp Guage

A body has a exhuast temp gauge in is mustang , I asked him why he has a gauge for that and he told me it was thier when he got it . why would someone wanna monitor that if thier jsut running motor no bottle , no s/c

were either of those previously installed, maybe the guy had an extra guage and was **** about things?
