Default Oil pan

I think I have a rear oil pan seal leak. I need to get that fixed because I drop about a tsp. to tbsp of oil everyday.

What is involved with taking the oil pan off to replace the seal.

Also since the pan is off should I just upgrade to a better pan? If so any suggestions?

i believe you have to jack the motor up from above with a engine crane, (after you've drained the oil) and then you can remove the oil pan and scrape the gasket off and replace the gasket and put the pan back on. pil pan gets torqued to 15 ft lbs, stage it from 10 around then go to 15 ft lbs, be sure to alternate just like a tire. mr. gasket oil pan gasket is part #6683

God Luck... a garage will charge you about $350-$450 to do this

Yea, you have to get the motor pretty high to get the pan off.... there is a trick to doing it without pulling the motor but its not easy. Hopefully someone will know...
