Yeah I was thinking the same. Have the Headers installed and install the x pipe my self. To my knowledge I the motor needs to be lifited up to get the headers on. Is this true??

I need to get BBK shortie equals installed as well as a BBK catted X pipe. I got a quote for 400-500$ In MA is this the right price to get these parts installed?
Well you figure labor is between 70-90 and hour so they're asking for 4-6 hours of work... sounds a bit high.

Is the catted X matched to the Shortie equals? If so, put them on yourself. If there's cutting/welding involved then you're better off having them installed and the amount you stated sounds about right.

I thought the engine only had to be jacked while installing long tube headers. Not sure if that is true or not, just what I heard.

I have BBK equal lengths and I didn't have to jack the motor, they were a pain though. Still wouldn't pay anyone to work on my own car, but I have access to a shop and tools too. I have more time than money, not sure about anyone else.

so true my friend so true...., but yea r barn i;m going by a flat labor rate.... job cost rather than hourly cost... thats how 80% of reputable shops near me do thier work.... esp. ford dealerships... i also think you can do this yourself, and you wont have to jack the motor, thats only for long tubes...

me and my brother did mine, i was 16 and he was 19. so were no experienced mechanics. and it took us 5 hours to do headers, mid pipe, and cat back.

jacking up the motor is a matter of undering 1 motor mount and jacking the motor up like 3-4 inches. you also may have to undo 1 end of the steering shaft. witch is no biggie either.

i guess it all matters on how much 500 bucks is to you.

You really need to do it yourself so that you learn more about the car. Imaging yourself standing around the guys and all of them sharing stories about when they put this on or that on and the feeling they had when it was done. Putting on your on mods builds character as well as a fast stang!!
