Default Rocker Question

I have a set of Edelbrock Performer heads I bought with nothing attached so Im starting fresh.. No one I call has the answer including Crane Cams or Edelbrock or Summit!!!!??

.. I beleive my heads are Pedestal Mount (5/16) screw.. but if you buy just the rockers, you need to buy the pedestals also, correct? strange though because the heads look like those that would use Stud mount rockers. I bought studs for them which turned out to be 7/16 threads which were way too big for the head.

Anyone know? Also should I run 1.6 or 1.7? The catalogs seem to only show 1.7 for the pedestal mount rockers.. I have a f303 cam with a 512 lift. Thanks

Youre better off using the stud mounts. Theyre stronger and there is less of a possibility of the stud getting ripped out of the head. As for rockers, check out ford racing, thatswhat I have basically (theyre Ford motorsport). As for ratio, youll make more peak power with 1.7's but youll make more power under the curve, basically throughout the whole powerband with the 1.6's.

but with the 1.7's will it be an issue clearing pistons with a .512 lift f303 cam? Ive heard both it will and it wont. I believe the 1.7 gives you .027 more of a lift.

My pistons have a valve relief cutout, so im hoping it wont be an issue.

1.7s with a F cam would be pushing it VERY close if you're running stock pistons. You should always check PTV clearance with anything over .500 lift.

Harland Sharps are nice, thats what ive got. Comp Magnums are up at the top and are lighter than most aluminum rockers and stronger, but a little pricey.
