This is what I suggest in your situation.

The 65mm TB will be sufficient for a stock 55mm MAF, especially if you are still using stock heads.
However the 70mm TB will not drop throttle response very much. An 80mm yes, but you may not notice the difference between the 65mm and 70mm TB's. If you have plans for heads and a cam, then feel free to step up to the 70mm TB now.

The best cheap MAF option you have is the stock 55mm your friend is selling. The other low buck option you have is to pick up a 70mm 94-95 Mustang MAF/MAS. You will need to either splice the wires or get an adapter harness, as the 55mm MAF uses an oval plug and the 70mm MAF uses a rectangular plug. There is also an adapter that will be needed to fit the hose of your air filter to the 70mm MAF housing.
Both of these adapters are available, or you can get creative with a hacksaw and some solder.

Don't try to use any other Ford MAF meters, as the 94-95 70mm MAF/MAS is the only Ford MAF that will interchange with the stock Fox A9* computers.

Hope that all made sense, it's late.
