What type of electrical accessories do you have? If you are using alotta juice, it's normal cuz the reg is doin' it's job by letting the extra current flow to charge the bat back up.

190 is by no means "hot"

i have one amp running my mids and highs, aftermarket gauges, cd player, optima battery. i double grounded my alternator and started it back up and didnt hear the noise. i was wondering how much play there is on the belt tensioner.

Could be something breaking down and creating an internal load like a short inside the alternator after it gets up to temperature. Could be a bearing breaking down underload. Or it could be that your alternator is getting ready to give up. This is all assuming it's an internal whine in the alternator as opposed to belt noise at the pulley.
