im having trouble making a choice about a motor. please help.
ok i have a 306 block and i have a forged crank and pistons for it. its a roller block and everything has been remachined. but my dad and i have been thinking about getting a 351 to build just because of the extra cubic inches. what im wondering is would it just be better to finish the 306 or build a 351? please help.

I would definitely go w/ a 351. You'll get more torque, more reliability, and it only costs a few bucks more to build one. I was planning on building a 347 until I discovered that they tend to crack after about 500 hp. Now I'm planning on a 393 stroker (bored and stroked 351w), and would never go back to the 302, though I love it

I would keep the 306 unless you're building an all out drag racing engine. With the right cam, heads, and intake, it will make plenty of power for a street/strip Stang.

i would go with the 306 unless you want to build it .... the rods love to break in the windsor and if you make big power the blocks are about worthless i'd say depends on the amout of power you want and the cash you want to spend but the windor makes more torque and hp sound like you have the good stuff for the 306 try it big heads and big cam you can eat most 351 power stang anyway

If you stick with the 306 and stroke it to a 347 it's going to be making about the same power as the 351w but without the added weight.
And it's not just a 347 that will crack at 500HP
its all stock blocks, they just cant handle that much power. Which is why I'm going for an aftermarket block with either a 331 or 347 and a blower.

well i am looking to have as much power as possible on pump gas or a light mix of race gas. and i also dont want to much power that it will twist the car. i just want a fast street/strip car. SO how much HP should i aim for?
