Default Header sealent

im and pulling on new lt headers... rite now the old ones are off... there is sum type of sealent on the old gasket and on the block... do i need to take the old sealent off the block... i was thinking yes.. and if so how do i do that.... just scrumbing or is there suthing specially made for it... also do i need to but that sealent on my new gaskets... there jst copper gaskets nothign specialy about them... and if i need to but new sealent on what do u recommend and is it at like autozone or sumthan.... thanks!!

on cars where the headers are a pain to do people use red rtv to help seal it so they wont leak, but just using header gaskets should be fine
