Got another vote for the cats. just cut them off and install an h pipe or x pipe. who needs them anyway?? well unless you live in cali of course. just take a a breaker bar, broom stick, whatever and cut the exhaust off behind the cats and gut the things then start her up and blow out all the ****. youll see the difference instantly if the were clogged. just hope you know how to weld or know someone who does

If it were a clogged cat it would most likely be only on one side or the other unless he's running 2 into 1 exhaust. It's not likely that both cats would go bad at the same time, even if they've been on the car the same amunt of time. With the exception of maybe a ton of oil getting in there and clogging them up at the same time. Have you had your distributor out at all recently or made timing and or fuel adjustment? I think that's the place to start looking.

Well you may have to pull the distributor and re-install. Chances are it's off a bit from when you put it back in.

the reason y they glow is cuz u got ut timing to retarded that all the heat thats supposed to be in ur combustion chamber is now burning through the exhaust...... i doubt the cats are clogged.... u still think the cats are bad.. remove the 02s and see how the engine likes that..... and ur car wont start cuz ur getting starter heat soke because of all of the heat

Do you have cats, if so they may be cloged... That happened to my brothers Grand Am

DING DING DING!!! If his temp guage is normal then the motor is not lean enough to cause the headers to glow.He would also be detonating like a bitch. I vote clogged cat or crushed exhaust tube/collector.

This is the correct answer.
