Default Hydraulic lifters, how do I check?

I just took my crane hydrolic roller lifters out of my car and I noticed that I can push some of them in with a pushrod and some of them stay hard. Does this mean that they are collapsed/bad if they push in?

Try sticking all of them in a bucket of oil and pumping them up.

Should they all be pumped up when adjusting valves or not pumped up?

the only way to determine if they are bad is to instal and after 2-3 valve adjustment checks, its noisy.

adjust your valve lash, run car after 24 hours do it over again.

these little guys get stiff or relax as they want and there is nothing you can do to change that, new or used.
