Default turbo

has anyone here built there own turbo kit. i'm really thinking about doing it and wondering if anyone on here as done it and if so how difficult it is. just trying to get an idea of how much it would cost and what it take to do it

first off you need the tools to even attempt this, welder, pipe bender, machining tools, etc. Ian did it on his '95 cobra, $1800 total but that was with work buying the pipe... fringe benefits! lol The head unit will cost you $1000 easy on ebay....

why do i need a pipe bender, can't i just cut and weld a lot, i don't plan no making the manifold i was hoping to just buy one and then buy to turbo to match up with it

Yes you can, no pipe bender is needed. it's actually better to do it that way with some weld l's. Summit sells them cheap. If you're making your own header I'd recommend getting thickwall tubing just up to the turbo, then you can go to the thin stuff on the rest of the exhaust. Generally, the exhaust manifold supports the turbo & thin tubing will result in header failure.
