Coolant In Oil ...

RE: Coolant In Oil ...
take off your radiator cap when your engine is cold (like when you wake up or something), start the car, have a friend watch. If your head gasket is blown coolant will fly out of the radiator. That's one sure way to tell. If it doesn't, there's still a slim chance it is still blown.

RE: Coolant In Oil ...
OK guys. I think I was just bugging out for no reason. I took the oil that I drained and poured it into a big bucket to see if the oil would float and I could see coolant in it. There was no signs of coolant and after the coolant was int he bucket it just smelled burnt. I think what happened was, about a month ago when I changed my thermostat I drained some coolant into the pan that I used yesterday and when I drained the oil you could see a thin green tint on top of the pan, I think it might have just been from last month when I drained it. Also, I checked EVERYWHERE for leaks and did not find ANYTHING. The car runs perfect. Doesnt smoke. No hesitation, etc. I think I may just have a really small coolant leak that Im not seeing somewhere or its burning off before I can find it. Also, it doesnt help either that this was my first RP oil change and as many of you know RP isnt like other oils. It doesnt smell the same, look the same, etc. I think I might of blown it out of porportion a little bit but if if I have any more problems I will let you guys know. Thanks for all the help. Its really appreciated!

Around 155 per cylinder is what I saw. I would just like to say that if everybody here assumes that when they lose coolant, that there car is about to blow, they have a lot of happy mechanics. It couold just be a pin hole in a hose or a heater core going bad...never know.

^^ I checked the heatercore numberous times to check for leaks. Checked lines in motor bay and also checked in the cabin all around the passenger side and didnt find any signs of leaking. I was just woried about having a small leak in the head gasket or something and I just didnt want it to get worse. But trust me, even if it was a blown HG which Im like 95% sure its not.... there will be no mechanic fixing my car lol Thats what winter is for! [8D]

+1. Same problem I have in my other beast that I drive. My 1996 Geo Tracker. We're talking 95 HP at the flywheel baby!!!!
But anyway, I need to change it soon, just haven't gotten around to it. It's only my beater anyway.

Yesterday my and my friend were going to work on my car. When I popped my hood he said that he smelt burning coolant but I didnt smell anything. Its almost time for an oil change so I just drained my oil a few mintues ago... Im almost positive that there is coolant in my oil. Im running RP and its half way green but I have to check to see if the coolant floats... any suggestions of what it could be?
The car runs fine; no hesitation; power loss; etc. Also, I checked my coolant and the coolant looks fine. Talk to me guys!
