Default need heat

Ok just bought a 93 stang and for some reason they have disconnected the heater. All the controls work just no heat. Under the hood the heater core has the two outlets sticking out in the fire wall and no hoses connected. There is a pipe coming off the back of the block that is crimped off and the water pump as a plug. MY question is can I just run heater hose off the water pump to the heater core and I assume from the heater core to the pipe they have crimped. Any one Have any pics or can tell me wiill this work? It sure is cold!lol

That sounds like the heater core may have had a leak at one time, and they bypassed it so they would not have to replace it. They are labor intensive to do and that sounds like a shortcut.

That's sounds right. The rednecks around here do it all the time.

you could probably remove the pipe and buy fittings to run the hose down into the intake.

they probably disconnected it cause the heater core is leaking.
the whole dash has to come out to replace and it's expensive to hire out, thats why most people just disconnect it.

new heater core
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...ory=M2HEATCORE
cheap part ....... serious PITA to replace

you can get a new heater core transfer pipe
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS
needed hoses
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS

the heater core pipe on the outside towards passngr fender goes to top pipe and the
inside heater core pipe goes to the bottom pipe on the transfer pipe.

The transfer pipe screws into the big hole on the front passngr side of the lower intake manifold
and the water pump outlet goes to the top pipe on the transfer pipe.

I knew u guys would come threw for me. I will definetatly get the right tubes to make it look good later but I am gonna try the heater hose and hope it works cause I am cold! LOl What I am hoping for is that since the car came out of flordia and they have had the engine out they just messed up the pipes and never reconnected but I will test the core first if its bad then I will go buy me a better jacket! lol

If it does leak and you hook it back up, you may end up replacing your carpet....just a warning. It will leak in the passenger floorboard. I bypassed mine for now, but already bought a new heater core. O'reilly's has them pretty cheap....core and a speedo cable was $38.

mine was almost the same exact way as yours, i took a risk and hooked it up anyway and it worked fine, but the AC doesn't work now so i'm assuming thats why they disconnected mine.
