what is the difference in an aod and an aode transmission?
The AODE tranny is electronically controlled (hence the E.) It also manually shifts slightly different. In an AOD, the OD is actually a "gear" you select with the shifter. But with the AODE it's a button that you push to either engage it or disengage it. Because of that, you can actually shift 1-2-D manually with an AODE, as opposed to 1-D-OD with an AOD. The AOD can be modified to have the same shift characteristics of the AODE, but that usually takes a new valvebody.
