Hi im a newbie here. I got a 89 lx and need help troubleshooting because my car wont start. I'm getting gas but no SPARK. I need a idiot guide to perform these task, because either i dont have the tools or im not doing something right. I'm posting some pics of what im dealing with cause it's so hard to troubleshoot when half the things arent there!!! How this car ran to begin with i have no clue!!! If this helps it has a 347 stroker kit with a 4 barrel carb. Plz help!!!

Here are some pics of a wire coming from the distributor but DONT plug into anything!!! My guess is because it went from fuel injection to a carb??? One of the other pics is some wires from the msd ignition, which all these wires were like this and the car ran!!
I would like to know what they are for, and how do i troubleshoot without these connected?

update!! i just replaced the old coil with a new one (same model) and car didnt start, and i tried to test it with a sparkplug
and still didnt get a spark!! Is there some kind of trick to ground the sparkplug??? I layed it on the strut where the tip of the sparkplug was touching metal, i even tried laying it so the treads and tip was touching metal. Still no spark. What could it be?? I have a msd ignition and ive always heard that running when i turn the key on, and i know its not the fuel pump making that noise cause it stays on as long as the key in turned on.

i would think you still need that ignition module plugged in if its the stock distributor and did you check your fuel pressure, thatd be a better way to make sure your getting fuel.

well nothing on the motor is stock! and i know its getting plenty of fuel, because without pressing the gas pedal down i can smell gas.
But how would i test a carb fuel pressure? And why wouldnt i get spark from the new coil?? And i dont see where the ignition module would even be. Could the previous own bypass that???
