Default xtreme comp cams

ithink i want to go with a comp extreme energy cam, i think 1300-5600 rpm range sounds really good. 262/270 dur 493/500 lift. or should i go with i higher rpm range like 1600-5800 , 268/280 dur and 509/512 lift. would both of these have a good lopy sound at idle? these sound like good powerbands to me but which one would you guys suggest? also could i put the first one in with the stock heads if i couldnt afford the afr's i want untill later?

Are you on an automatic or manual trans? What gearing are you using?

either cam would work really good on a stock or modded engine, heads would diffently help the cam out though, and as Vfast would say use a 1.6 intake rocker and a 1.7 exaust rocker because comp cams did not grid those cams to compensate for the smaller exaust valve.

well a 1.6 rocker would be fine till i got the afr 165's right? there valves are a little bigger but i guess i dont know about the length. do you just buy a set of 8 1.6 and 8 1.7? would the first one be kinda lopy? i just want to have the cam in before i get the heads. it will make the heads install much quicker

i run 1.6 on my car with a cam without much compisation for the exaust valve works good. no matter what head you run the exaust valve is going to be considribly smaller than the intake. and yaeh youll need to get two set but youll always have extra around or could sell here im sure, both cams will be loopy and idle around 800-900 rpms. the 1.6 1.7 idea is a really good idea and Vfast my have some more info shoot him a PM. i get get lost in all the push rod length and clearance issues.

yea me too , i still cant find the stock pushrod length anywhere! well inst ead of going with another expensive pair of rockers couldnt i just go with a longer pushrod for the exhaust? that should make up for the length the same as the 1.7 rockers and would be a hell of a lot cheaper. do you know if a stock head is pedestal mount? cause before i want to invest in the rollers i want to make ssure the heads i buy are stud mount, i heard they are much stronger. what do you think

stock heads are ped. mounts. stud mounts are alot stronger for sure but on a engine with less than 400hp not really nessasary in my opp. i dont know about pushrod lengths but sounds good to me.

I think I'd use the smaller cam and in the future get that higher lift by using some differant rockers.
