Roll cage
+1 racing seats and 4 point harnesses also.its great for the track and needed running a fast enough speed.but hopefully you are not getting it to be racing on the street and thinking you will be safe.it wont be safe for the innocent driver you may crash into.and imo if you are going to get it fu** the swingout bars do it right.a local guy in 2005 t-boned a fox body into a utility pole the swingout bar broke and punctured his lung.yeah its an inconvienience getting in and out of the car but if you want safety have it solid.

I dont see how you al can say it WONT make it any safer. True your head or arms, etc. might come in contact with the cage but you can always pad it for one and also the cage is meant so the car doesnt CRUSH in the event of a rollover. If youve ever seen a wrecked car witha cage in it, the first thing youll notice is that the passenger compartment is still mainly intact. It seems to me that is the MOST important part of a car to be intact. Not saying that you cant get hurt, but the liklyhood of you getting SERIOUSLY injured is GREATLY reduced. Id rather have a big fat bump on my head from the roll cage, than be crushed or seriously hurt without one. Also, the cage in itself is a system, it increases the cars overall rigidity, making it overall safer. I think a cage is a GREAT idea. Go for it, SAFETY = PRICELESS.
If you get one make sure its a real 8 or 10 point.

+1 swingout bars suck. Im a big guy, 6'4' and 270, and i can manage to crawl through my 8 point, id rather do it the safe way than the convienent way.

i remember seeing a while back a white car on the forum that got into an accident, i believe the guy died? that car looked really bad. Im willing to bet if it had a cage, there might have been some chance that he would have survived. Cages save lives, thats what their meant to do. Thats my opinion and everyone can think what they want, but even if my street car didnt need one to tech in at the track, it would still have one. Thats just my .02 though.

One other thing I am going to add. Unless you are cinched down tight in a harness you WILL bounce all over the car. How many of you guys have ever been properly belted into a harness? Basicly you cannot move anything but your arms, how comfortible do you think that will be even on a 20 min. ride? Look I install cages and build chassis for some pretty exotic cars FOR A LIVING, I know you guys will just say it's my worthless opinion but the FACT is that a cage in a daily driver street car is not making the car more safe.
i actually just read a article in my superchevy magazine about a chevelle that got hit hard on the eway, and they were saying if it wernt for the cage, neither the car nor the driver would have survived. ill see if i can post it up somehow.
I personally HAVE been belted into a car properly with harnesses.... you cant even cough because they are so tight. The only thing that sucked was that i couldnt shut off my radio....
then again, thats why i keep the remote in the visor...

I'd had the great experiences of totaling 2 cars in my lifetime. Both of them were on the street and both were in caged cars. The first time I can honestly say that if it weren't for the cage, I'd have most likely lost my left leg from just below the knee as the door and fender were wrapped around the door bar. But if it weren't just an 8 point, I may have hit the halo bar when I hit the windshield. The second time was just in a Jeep in which the cage didn't matter as I took on a Mercury Tracer and then a stoplight pole head on and again, vented the windshield with my head.
So although in my case, I believe the cage helped me the first time, I don't just run out a cage all my street cars. I currently own 2 caged cars but both of them need them to be track legal. The also have harnesses, fire extinguishers and plenty of other safety items on them. I think it's more important to just wear your seatbelt. Now that I've taken out 2 windshields with my head, I try and wear my seatbelt about 75% of the time.
And I would not waste my time on my cage you paid less than $1000 for installed.

i believe the guys name was Brandon, and in all honesty, if you look at that car, a cage would not have saved him. the front left tire of that car was under the steering wheel. i've never seen a cage that goes across the firewall.
