no air filter silencer? 88 gt
i actually have it but theres no advantage to taking it off that i can see. the size of the silencer is the same size as the hold in the body. so no more air can be forced in. right?
edit: plus wouldnt it acualy decrese hp cause your dont getting colder air from the front end?
thanx in advance

Hey lucky, I just pulled mine out and all I noticed was a more throatier sound, thats good, right? I asked just about the same question in this forum and the other members said you may gain 1 or 2 ponies also change the air cleaner to a K&N or a Fram airhog this may get you a few more. The silencer is easly replaced so I just left my out because of the improved sound.

i hear ya dude but i also heard that bringing in hot air from not having the silencer will cost you hp rather then gain hp and cause a throatier sound. dont know if im right or wrong but thats what i was told by a mechanic, and my air silencer is the same size as the hole in the inner fender, so taking it out wouldnt improve any air flow anyway

Well i dont know how taking out your air silencer could possibly make you bring in hot air. You are still getting air from the fender. I would definately take it out even if the hole is the same size because the air would only have to travel through the hole in the fender then filter, as opposed to through the air silencer then fender then filter if you leave it in. Just my opinion though..

I would have to agree with NegadivOne. I was told that one of the first things mustang owners do is remove the silencer. Lucky, do what you want, either way its easy in or out with this part. I still feel that by removing the silencer the area which the intake will draw from is much larger and the air flowing through this area is greater. I guess you can go either way with this. Go with what your comfortable doing the performance gain is minimal.
