That's exactly what I bought this past saturday. A turnkey engine from a 1996 Ford Explorer. Only they were asking $350 for it. I figured I'll take the intake, heads, and TB from it and then replace it with my old stock Mustang intake, TB, and heads. That way my Mustang will get the performance boost and I will still have a complete, running, turnkey 302.

I thought it was 8.8:1. I could be mistaken though.

Dont you have to customize the explorer tb to work on mustangs?..ithought i saw something about having to because it was different or something.

Yeah, but it's fairly simple. The bell crank that the throttle cable hooks to will have to be taken off the old throttle body. I'll have to grind the flange of each throttle body, swap the 'bell cranks' and place a small tack weld to hold it in place. The TPS holes will have to be filed out a bit to fit the wider spread on the Explorer TB, and to ensure enough movement to achieve proper TPS voltage. And if I want to keep the small elbow that goes to the oil filler tube, I'll have to drill a hole the Explorer TB. That's pretty much it for custom work. (Not counting hte elbow..but you buy that instead of customizing anything.)

$650 sounds like a real high price to me.
Around here (Arizona) stuff like that $350-450.......
