Default First Oil Change

Hey just did my first oil change on the mustang. Had one question. Now with my Mercury Daily Driver I put all five quarts in and the level is perfect on the dipstick. But in the mustang I put all five quarts in and it's above the level by about | | that much... Should i leave it like that or let some oil out?

I'm not sure about your car but on fox mustangs there are 2 drain plugs. One on the front sump and one on the rear. Did you make sure there aren't 2 plugs.

No i drained both, I started with the first and i was like wtf that was not enough oil out and then i noticed the other plug. But i put exactly five quarts and it's over. I did the same once with my Xterra and it did not hurt it.

Maybe the filter is just a little smaller then most. It won't hurt anything. Its not a mercedes where it say on the oil cap over filling with cause engine failure.

yah you should be fine. over filling causes more crankcase pressure, which in turn COULD push out some seals, but you need a couple or more extra quarts for that to happen.
