so i know at least some of you have seen the sticky ad for that magnetic oil filter, they also have an ad on the right column there, so i bought one.
got it today. they advertise that they are good for 40k, so it will be a while before i can post results, unless i feel like wasting the $40 filter and tearing it open early.

I hate to sound so negative but that filter is waste of money. Regardless of any guarentees it comes with, think of how much fun it would be getting them to pay for your engine repairs if it didn't work properly. You could literally stick a speaker magnet to your oil pan and have the same effect. I hope it works for you though.

i dont really forsee any problems with it. there is no reason a small magnet would destroy the engine. your right about the speaker magnet, but who wants to drop they're pan everytime they wanna clean up the shavings?
