people have run a lot wider tire than 245 in the front. with 18's 265 or 275 is fairly common, at least on SN95s.

I ran 245's up front with my ponies too. I could only get them to rub if I was haul'n the mail. And that was just barely on the sway bar or control arm. When I switched to '99GT wheels I run 275's out back and 255/40 up front. I can't get them to rub at all. This is on a '92GT so the larger fender opening might make a difference.

275/40/17's all around with 1.5 inc drop-no problem.
