Clearance with longtube headers

RE: Clearance with longtube headers
is it a bad thing that one of the pipes on the right pair of headers, before the four into one, because i have a pretty damn big dent...about a half an inch atleast. And could i just get an exhaust shop to raise the clearance somehow or would that require som hardcore fab work?

RE: Clearance with longtube headers
I've had my L/T's in for a couple years haven't scraped or hit them, just got to be carefull with the bumps... Btw, car is lowered 2"... A good shop maybe able to pop the dent out, although you most likely won't won't see any change in performance... Check your motor mounts, the motor will drop a little if there worn out, get a little more clearence with new ones...

RE: Clearance with longtube headers
I feel your pain man, I have BBK long tubes with drop springs (maximum motorsports I think they are 1.5's) AND I live in Michigan. The roads are terrible and I have to creep over many railroad crossings. I also live in an apartment complex with a rather nasty speedbump so I have to angle the car across them. Yeah, it sucks but I am sure not going to start over with a set of shortys. Granted you won't notice much of a difference in performance between the two with a mild build, but the 5.0 is a torque motor and long tubes are ideal for this kind of power band. Anything that takes advantage of this engines natural characteristics is worth the effort in my opinion.
