my car is one wheel wonder right now just getting into mustang mechanics and what not i found a posi track unit for mustang 8.8in 31 spline rear end is that what i need? and can that be done myself or do i have to mess with the ring ang pinion to get at it cause im really not for that. any help would be fantastic thanks. everything in the rear end is still stock

a 31 spline diff needs 31 spline axles, stock is 28 they do sell trac-lok rebuild kits which is what you need, it can be done by you you dont need to mess with shims or anything because your not changing the gear ratio

let a shop take car of it... and you dont need anything special.. like 31 spline axles or carrier... you just need the $40 trak loc rebuild kit

The trac loc kit can be done by yourself but be sure you get all the shims back in the correct place.

Have a shop do it...and gear it while you're in there...No sense doing it later. Most shops don't charge any extra for labor when you ask them to do the trac-lok at the same time as gears because it all has to come out anyway.

yeah do a gearset, and use a rebuild kit. just have the shop do it
