cold starts
Now that the colder weather is upon us. The stang is harder to start. It cranks but doest start intill about the 6th or7th try.Once its running it fine. Its just getting it to start.I just dropped a new battery in last week. Thinking that was the problem. Once its running for five min. or so.I can turn it off and it will start right up the first time. I have no idea..wtf?
Measure the battery voltage if you can. OCV should be over 12.6.
If the vehicle cranks for 6 or 7 times, sounds to me like the battery is performming OK, and the problem may be elsewhere.
As a battery engineer, my favorite line to use is "if the vehicle cranks, my part is not the problem!"

Just a (maybe boring) FYI.... cars are harder to start in the cold for two main reasons.
1) It is harder to turn over, because oil is thicker when cold, and a whole bunch of other similar items
and
2) The battery is not capable of performing as well. As the battery is a chemical reaction, the chemical reaction "slows down" when it is cold.
good luck!
