Default Ported stock intake VS Cobra

My buddys were in a arguement over which flows better. A cobra intake vs a professionally ported stock manifold. Can someone clear this up?? No specific porting company. How close would they be?

uhh... $250 can get you a cobra, porting will throw you off more cost per hp.

If done properly, the ported stock E7 would outflow the stock cobra. But then again, the ported cobra would outflow the ported stock E7. And to go one step further, the stock Explorer intake will outflow the stock E7 intake and the stock Cobra intake. And a ported Explorer intake will outflow the ported stock E7 and the ported Cobra intake.

I would imagine they would flow pretty closely. Check out tmossporting.com for stock porting results.....

You'd be better off going for a used trick flow or edelbrock.. its a little more $ but then you dont have to port anything, those intakes will outflow a ported E7 or cobra anyway

Only if you have someone porting it who doesn't know what they're doing. If someone knows what they're doing then can and will end up with gt40, explorer, or cobra intakes that will outflow the aftermarket ones.

Maybe for the cobra, but not for the stock. Besides, you have to cut the whole thing open to port it right, then what have leftover, is an ugly looking stock intake thats been cut open lol.. I thought about doing it also, but you can find a decent intake on ebay for about 280 bucks.. in my opinion, why fool with porting the stock unless you are a sheet metal wizzard If you are that good that you can port it yourself then[sm=hail.gif]

For someone on a budget..would getting a stock explorer intake be a good investment? Does anyone know the size of the throttle body opening?
