Oil change
I bought a stang wit 64k on it and when i looked at when the last time it had its oil changed it was 8k miles ago. I changed the oil right away but could there have been any damage? The oil used was quaker state full synthetic so I kno that it is a lil better than jus reg oil but still, I'm a lil worried. O, by the way, the engine is bone stock.

RE: Oil change
SC, you'd be surprised at how long motor oil will still protect and engine before it totally gives out.
If your motor isn'y knocking, clacking or smoking....I'd say your in pretty good shape.
I'm with uedlose, Drice it and enjoy it. I think your o.k.

RE: Oil change
as long as you dont redline your car all the time you should be all set. Just drive the 5.0 like a regular car and you can get on it when you want but just dont be too forcefull because then you are taking risks with the tranny or the engine. But have fun!!

RE: Oil change
I read an article once in consumer reports (not saying they are right though) which says that the idea of changing engine oil every 3,000 with today's oil, especially synthetic oil, is a marketing ploy by the oil manuf. and the oil change shops. They said that "under normal driving conditions" it is fine for most cars to change oil every 10,000 miles. Who knows though, if you race your car all the time I'm sure it is good to change it more often. And oil and filters are cheap anyway.

Don't lose any sleep over the long time between oil changes, even if it was Quaker State at least it was the synthetic version of it.
and don't baby the car, drive the hell out of it and enjoy it, that's why you bought it right? if it's a 5.0, you can flog the hell out of it and it will come back for more, they're tough little sumbitches they are![sm=trust_me.gif]
I started drag racing my '88 back in '94 when it had 78,000 miles on it and it was my daily driver. I took it off road several years ago when it had about 108,000 miles on it and I've made over 400 mostly 1/4 mile drag strip passes with it and I'm still racing the heck out of it with the same stock engine too! 5.0 rules!

Hearty motors they are indeed. Im sure your engine is fine though, my buddy had a 4.3L (crrraaapp) in his chevy s10. One time he went over 9K miles without an oil change. He had it changed and of course it was jet black but he never had a single problem out of it.
