Default Low oil lights are dim

Ever since I'veowned my car, both of my low oil lights (under the tach, and in the warning light cluster) have been far dimmer than the rest of my warning lamps. I check my oil every few days, so it's not that big of a deal. I'm just worried that, ifthe lightever came on during broad daylight, I may not see it. What controls the brightness of these warning lamps?

Have you tried pulling the cluster and checking the bulb and wires with a voltmeter to see is there is a short in that circuit?

Thanks for the reply, 7up. No, I haven't done anything yet, as I didn't even know what to check. If it was just one of the low oil lights, I would have assumed it was the bulb. But since it's both that are dim, I was a bit stumped. So you're thinking it could be a short in the wiring somewhere?

One thing I thought might be causing it is this. I just changed my low oil sensor this morning because it was leaking. The part of the sensor that the wiring connector plugs into was soaked with oil. I didn't have any contact cleaner or anything, so I just plugged the oily connectorinto the new sensor and went on with my day. Needless to say, the problem still persists. Is it possible that the oil that was leaking through the sensor was causing some kind of short at the connector? Would that cause a dim low oil light? By the way, when I say dim, I mean that it's about half as bright as all my other warning lights. Thanks.

The bulbs could have just come loose from the back of the cluster and are just hanging back there! They just push in and twst. Somone probably didnt turn them far enough when they put them in and they just fell out the back. JMO

Thanks, 93. I guess I'll pull the cluster and warning lamp panel one day, and have a look.
