You need a code 33 (at least) to have the system delete the EGR function.
so if i block it will it throw a code and run in limp mode??otherwise who cares it the ecu makes the egr open if its blocked right???
You don't want the EGR valve opening, the systam adds more spark timing depending on the EGR valve opening position to compensate for the exhaust gases. If no exhaust gases are been "injected" through the intake, the added timing (EGR induced) could cause an engine pinging @part-throttle problem (when EGR opens). Code 33 will trigger this added timing not to be added and the variant of the "limp mode" the system will use = delete EGR only.....nothing else (A/F, spark timing, etc) will be affected.

Default RE: EGR REMOVAL

Nope....information to the ECM will continue, the "message" it will tell the ECM is "I'm not opening, when you're telling me to open".....and trigger code 33. BTW, the system will continue to test and retest to check if the "failure" still exists. Having the EVP fixed at its closed position = the resistors kit.......the system checks for a passing EGR closed value, but will log the code (33) when it expects the EGR to be open......this check or test will repeat within the system for as long as the engine is in operation.

hey joel5.0 does this apply to the 2.3l motors egr as well, i have a ranger with a 2.3 out a 93mustang, its the motor with 8 plugs and no distributor??, its a fun little truck but i want to block it off since its doing the same crap as the 5.0 getting all sooty, and from the throttle body on back its all brown and oily inside and thats either from the egr or that vent thing that comes from thoilcovet to a tube on the trottle body
