When rebuilding the trac-lok... you dont have to take the carrier out of the diff. All you need to get the job done is a soft mallet, brass punch and some vise grips.

Jack up the back end of the car and disassemble the brakes. remove the diff cover.
Push the axles in as far as they will go, remove the C-clips from the end of the axles
Remove the diff pin locking screw
using the soft mallet and bronze punch, strike the diff pin through the carrier, only hit it out a little bit, or you wont be able to turn the carrier.
pull the diff pin out of the carrier... this might take some time, but try not to damage it in any way.
Using the vice grips, pull out the S-spring. It has a bit of stored energy, this is why I recommend using vice-grips... it will keep it from springing out and hitting you in the EYE!!!
slowly rotate the spider gears in the diff until you can slide them out one by one. once you have the top gears out, the side gears will also come out...
behind the side gears are the clutch packs.

ummm huh , and alternate clutch discs everyother for a tighter bite... rather than two then one clutch...
